SIGNED BY BILL WILSON - CO-FOUNDER OF ALCOHOLIC ANONYMOUS
#V154 SOLD |
Alcoholics Anonymous First Edition, Fourteenth Printing 1951 Big Book NY: Works Publishing Inc. 1951. Book is in Very Good condition. Cover is a little dirty. Some underlining and notations throughout book. No defects to book. Comes with a NEW reproduction dust jacket. An inscription from Bill W. to Tom Birrell who was one of the founding members of AA in New York. Tom Birrell was one of just five AA members in New York who "contributed to the writing of the book" and who stayed continuously sober after the Big Book was published. Tom's sobriety date fell in the month of February 1939, so it is unlikely that he made any kind of substantial contribution to the Big Book being that the book was going through the final stages of editing between February and March of 1939. Tom remained sober until his death in 1964. As noted by Bill W., Tom Birrell "put on a real plug for money" for the AA organization. At that time, money and spirituality couldn't mix, but Tom was a pioneer of making contributions for both the infrastructure and the common good of AA and in encouraging others to do the same. Tom Also served as one of the early Trustees of the Alcoholic Foundation.
